Associate Director
About me – when I left school, I decided that I wanted to enhance my accountancy experience further as I had a keen interest in business and numbers. I graduated from University of Stirling after achieving my BAcc. (Hons.) degree in accountancy. Since then, I have worked for companies ranging from a small practice to a top 10 accountancy firm allowing me to gain invaluable experience to firstly obtain my ACCA qualification in 2006 and to further achieve my own career goals after being appointed as Executive Director with Scholes in April 2024. I have always specialised in the SME market as I get a lot of job satisfaction from helping clients achieve their aspirations and grow and develop their business.
What I do at Scholes - I have a wide-ranging role in the Edinburgh office and no two days are the same. I look after the accounts and taxation services for clients to ensure that they meet their statutory obligations and help them to develop their businesses further. This is done along with the specialist expertise from the Scholes team, ensuring they receive the advice they require and feel comfortable to contact us when they have a business query they want to discuss. I also carry out audits for some of our audit clients. Internally my role involves mentoring students through their professional qualifications which provides me with a sense of achievement helping others to achieve their career goals, I am also involved in business development to promote the Edinburgh office.
More about me – it has previously been said I am most definitely not your typical accountant. In my spare time I enjoy taking part in charity abseils to raise valuable funds for charities close to my heart such as CHSS and Prostate Cancer UK. I have a love of fast cars ever since I was at school (which is my brothers’ fault) and enjoy spending time with my family and friends which includes my beautiful dog who is a large but friendly Rottweiler.
