As part of Scholes’ commitment to their local community and the fostering of new talent, they have recently recruited Jessica Thomson into their Kirkwall team.
After studying at Stromness Academy, in Orkney, Jessica is excited to start her accounting career with Scholes.
“She shows a great deal of ambition and talent” said Karen Scholes, Director of the firm, “and I am glad that Scholes is there to guide a young person through the early stages of their career.”
During her time in education, Jessica completed voluntary work experience within the firm, helping formulate a lasting enjoyment of the profession and solidifying her career choices.
Whilst Scholes is dedicated to recruiting from a diverse range of backgrounds and social groups, the labour market is extremely tight at the moment, so Jessica’s inclusion is a real bonus.
“We love having young new talent joining the firm and we especially like the fact that Jessica is a local to Orkney, which has a very tight-knit community” Karen added. “It is important to us that Scholes assists in the mutual cooperation and economic growth of such a unique and beautiful group of islands.
“Scholes takes real pride in our commitment to our local communities and Orkney is no exception.”
Karen added: “It is great to see an individual like Jessica working towards her CA qualification with the help of our team and I am certain she will pass with flying colours.
“I know that the entire Scholes family wishes to convey their congratulations and good luck on our newest colleague!”
